JUP Celebrates 12th Anniversary
As the preceding years, JUP-Nepal has observed its “Jana Utthan Day” (anniversary) on 24 July 2006 (Shrawan 8, 2063 according to lunar calendar). It is the 12th anniversary of JUP-Nepal. However, JUP has, since its inception, been celebrating such occasion by organizing a variety of programs.
This year, JUP marked it jubilantly by organizing various programs. The ceremonial function was concluded in the conference hall of Hotel Orchid, at Tripureswar, Kathmandu. It sharply kicked off at 1 p.m. and concluded at 5 p.m. Upon arrival of guests and invitees at the venue, the proceedings of ceremony started. In the beginning, the master of ceremony requested all the distinguished guests and invitees to assume their seats. Similarly, chief guest and other distinguished personalities sat at the dais. Mr. Man Bahadur Bk, the founder Chairman of JUP presided over the session throughout.
At the outset, Mr. Babu Ram Biswakarma, the Vice-chairman of JUP welcomed all the guests and invitees by delivering welcome speech. Mr. Biswakarma spoke on the past history together with the ups and downs of JUP. Thereafter, chief guest Mr. Padam Sundas, the patron of JUP formally inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional oil-fed lamp “panas”. Concurrently, one minute silence was observed in the memory of late Prem Baraili, the founder member of JUP, together with known and unknown martyrs, who were killed during different movements that occurred in the country for the cause of Loktantra.
Likewise, Padam Singh Biswakarma, academician Ram Saran Darnal and Padam Sundas unveiled the books, namely, “Padam Singh Biswakarma Ko Abchhinna Jibangatha” authored by Saroj Dilu, ” Bhagat Servajeet Biswakarma Ko Jibani” penned by Radenra Baraili and “Dalit Samudayako Samajik Ayam-Ek Bislesan” edited by Man Bahadur Bk. Meanwhile, the respective authors spoke about the succinct description of the books.
On the occasion, JUP-Nepal presented late Prem Baraili with the posthumous award, since he attained martyrdom in the year 2058, while fighting for the rights and equity of Dalits. Mr. Baraili was the founder member of JUP-Nepal. His senior brother, Bhakta Baraili received the award. Likewise, JUP-Nepal presented a letter of commendation along with cash prize Rs. 5,000 to Mr. Padam Singh Biswakarma in recognition of his incessant contribution to Dalit movement. In like manner, JUP-Nepal declared Ms. Apsara Aryal, as the staff of the year by presenting a letter of commendation along with cash prize Rs. 3,000 for her responsibility of assignment, dedication, devotion and hard work round the year. Ms. Aryal is currently working as a Computer Operator in JUP. In like manner, on the same occasion, JUP-Nepal presented a certificate of patronage to the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and Helvetas-Nepal respectively for providing their long time support and cooperation to JUP-Nepal. Both are the patrons of JUP-Nepal since long.
On the function, various personalities including Padam Sundas, Padam Singh Biswakarma, Binod Pahadi, Bijul Biswakarma, the ex-MP, Bishnu Maya Pariyar member of NASO based in US, among others extended best wishes and greetings to JUP-Nepal for its prosperity and sustainable development by expressing their own opinions separately for the upliftment of JUP-Nepal. Finally, Man Bahadur Bk, declared the closure of the session by proposing vote of thanks. The function was concluded followed by refreshment.
