Katmandu , March 5 . The general convention of Cultural Campaign for Equality (CUCEQ) held in Kathmandu concluded with nomination of its new executive board on 5th March.

From the Dalit-political front organizations, many of Dalit leaders had expressed their good wishes for accomplishing the function. Newly appointed member of Legislature-Parliament and the president of Dalit Mukti Morcha affliated to CPN (Maoists) Mr. Tilak Pariyar expressed that the entire dalit youth must unite for the end of Monarchial system. Likewise, Mr Laal Bahadur Vishwakarma, the President from Mukti Samaj of CPN (UML) has said that this cultural campaign is most powerful weapon for making awareness and abolishing the caste discrimination as well as establishing the better social scenarios for restructuring the state.

Another guest speaker, the president of Dalit Feminist Organization Mrs. Durga Sob was worried about the Dalit movement not being integrated even in this hot moment that is going on with Madhesi and Janajati’s movement. Likewise, the interim legislature member Mrs. Rima Nepali expressed her view that CUCEQ may play a vital role to sensitize Dalit people regarding the upcoming constitutional assembly and their rights. Similarly, the acting president of DNF, Mr. Tek Raika, wishing the best for General Convention of CUCEQ, emphasized that entire Dalit youth should be mobilized towards ending of traditional system of regime.

The General Convention passed the CUCEQ’s progress report of last four years presented by ex- general secretary Puskar Khati, financial status report of organization presented by Mr. Amrit Khati and organizational constitution presented by Tek Ghatani and new strategy presented by President Saroj Vishwakarma. Likewise, the convention has elected 11 members of executive board with its re-elected president Mr. Saroj Vishwakarma. They are : Mr.Tek Ghatani- vice president, Mr. Puskar Khati-Gen.Secretary , Mrs. Sarita Jirel-Treasurer, Mr. Ramsaran VK-Secretary and Mrs. Sribati Paswan, Mr. Amrit Khati, Mr, Prakash Ghatani, Mr. Narayan Ghatani, Mr. Krisna VK and Devlal BK as the board members respectively.
