Arrest of peaceful demonstrators continues: 49 demonstrators of Dalit Nagarik Andolan arrested

9th August, 2007, KATHMANDU- 49 Dalit activists were arrested from Singhadurbar again today, as the police cracked down on peaceful demonstration staged by Dalit Nagarik Andolan against the government to give pressure to guarantee 20 percentage representations in the Constitutional Assembly. Now arrested dalit activists are in the police custody at Kamalpokhari and Singhadurbar Police posts. Those arrested from the demonstration include some journalists as well.

In the demonstration, police has used their force, when they made arrests. Dalit activitists were suppressed by policemen. And, women demonstrators, in particular, were more suppressed and misbehaved by the policemen. Dalit Nagaril Andolan hadstrongly comdemned against the unjustified police action .
