Kathmandu, Feb. 10- The General Assembly of Jana Utthan Pratisthan (JUP-Nepal) was held with the presence founder members of JUP-Nepal on February 9, 2008 at Anamnagar, Kathmandu. After the discussion on the project report and the financial issues, the general members elected the following executive board, as the existing committee’s tenure of three years as per the organization’s constitution has ended. The new Executive Committee was elected unanimously under the leadership of Mr. Amrit Bishwakarma.

The newly formed Executive Board members:

• President: Mr. Amrit Bishwakarma
• Vice President: Mr. Babu Ram Bishwakarma
• General Secretary: Mr. Raj Kumar Gandharba
• Treasurer: Mr. Bharat Babu Tekhatri
• Member: Mrs. Sushila KC
• Member: Ms. Basanti Sunar
• Member: Mr. Hikmat Bishwakarma
• Member: Mr. Deepak Bishwakarma
• Member: Mr. Shuv Narayan Mahara

Finally, the Assembly was concluded with the summary that the state must appropriately respond to ensure the rights of excluded groups like Dalits. And also the state must develop strategy to include Dalits in every sphere of the state mechanism through constituent assembly. The new executive members promised to work with the spirit of JUP-Nepal, which has also gained UN ECOSOC status in 2007.

On the same day of the General Assembly, the new Executive Committee members received oath of honor in the presence of Mr Man Bahadur Bk, the founder president and honored the contribution of its previous committee members for the growth of the organization as well as the empowerment of Dalit communities.
