Army men shoot 3- the dead are fodder collector dalit women including a girl; they are no poachers, say locals
Army personnel shot three civilians, including a 12-year-old girl, dead inside Bardia National Park in Bardia district on Wednesday night. In a statement, the NA said the ‘poachers’ shot at the soldiers, forcing the Army patrol to fire back in self-defence. However, locals say that the victims were [collecting] fodder.

Army personnel shot three civilians, including a 12-year-old girl, dead inside Bardia National Park in Bardia district on Wednesday night.
The victims have been identified as Chandrakala B.K., 12, Amrita B.K., 33, and Devisara B.K., 35, of Hariharpur VDC-2 of neighbouring Surkhet district. Nepal Army (NA) claimed that the three female victims were poachers and they were killed in self defence.
In a statement, the NA said the ‘poachers’ shot at the soldiers, forcing the Army patrol to fire back in self-defence. The Army said that four poachers managed to escape, while one Krishna Bahadur B.K. was held with a weapon. However, locals say that the victims were foraging for fodder.
