YUBA SANSAR, the youth radio program of Canada Foundation for Nepal, Ottawa, Canada. In this episode, the youth introduce themselves briefly before they start the interview with Dr. Pramod Dhakal about a recent conference that took place in USA. It was hosted by NASO,(Nepali American Society for Oppressed community). The conference was about Dalits in Nepal, and about how to end the inequality. Dr. Dhakal said that education is one of the main ingredients to solve this challenge! Dr. Dhakal thinks that youth can help a lot in this matter. He also thinks that we shouldn’t ignore people just because they were considered wrongfully as a lower caste in the past, and we should all have to respect that we are humans.

Katwal Radio Magazine by Jagaran Media Center, Kathmandu (A Dalit awareness campaign radio program for inclusiveness, social equality and social justice in Nepal). This episode of the radio program reports the issues and current situation of the iron gate to higher education opened to Dalits in Nepal. Also, towards the end of the episode (from 17 minute time point), the episode presents the experience of Dr. Drona Prakash Rasali in his struggle for higher education following his SLC Examination results and his contribution to the society ever since. He had stood Board First in Nepal’s national SLC Examinations in 2028 BS (1972). [First radio broadcast on Friday July 4, 2009].

A case of outrageous caste discrimination and untouchability practices meted out to Dalit students by their own teachers in their school in Dhangadhi, a far western Terai district of Nepal. [June 2009]

*. BBC Nepali Service’s Sajha Sawal Radio forum was organized considering that Nepal has 103 different caste/ethnic groups. The forum opened up with a question posed, “Will the society get integrated by addressing the Caste based issues? ” This discussion forum conducted at the bank of Tinau River in Butwal focuses on many pertinent issues of Dalits. One of the three panelists giving their opinions in the forum was Nepali Congress central leader from Dalit community Man Bahaduar Bishwakarma. Dalit leader Bishwokarma put forward his strong words demanding explicit constitutional provision of reservation for Dalits and women, who have been oppressed and backward for long time.
